Individual learning targets

In response to the recent questionnaire we are looking for ways to make sure you feel informed about your child’s progress.

We have sent home your child's targets for Maths and English. Children will work towards these in school and we welcome your support with them at home. The targets will be checked at the end of each half term, but if you feel your child is meeting their target before then please send us a note and maybe some work that demonstrates the target. Please bear in mind however that children need to be able to meet the target independently and can often achieve more with adult support. The targets are layered for the whole school and the full picture can be seen below if you would like to work towards the next step (paper copies are available from class teachers for those of you unable to access the internet).

Writing

Children have been given writing journals in school and enjoy the chance to write whatever they like. They are also getting into writing in our weekly extended writing slot and we are beginning to really see a difference.

Reading

Children love reading at Haresfield School. That is why we would like to encourage them to read to you even more than they do already. Don't forget to share a book with your child every day if you can and remember even the oldest children in school love to have a book read to them at bedtime.
