At Haresfield school we firmly believe that Mathematics equips pupils with a uniquely powerful set of tools to understand and change the world. These tools include logical reasoning, problem-solving skills and the ability to think in abstract ways. Mathematics is important in everyday life, many forms of employment, science and technology, medicine, the economy, the environment and in public decision making.
The Mathematics teaching at Haresfield is geared towards enabling each pupil to develop within their capacities; not only the maths skills and understanding required for later life, but also an enthusiasm and fascination about maths itself.
Haresfield school held a very successful open evening with a focus on maths and how we teach Maths now. This was a very well supported evening and many positive comments were made about our confident and informative Maths Ambassadors who showed parents what they have been learning about in class.
Please feel free to look at the Maths policy documents, and progression documents we use to aid planning in maths.
