Finding out how your child is getting on at school:

• call in after school and speak informally to the teacher - available most days
• phone to make an appointment at a convenient time - usually after school but during the day if after school is difficult due to work commitments
• attend parents evenings - usually February and October
• discuss your child's individual targets with them and talk to them about their learning in school
• visit an Open Classroom afternoon/evening where their books etc will be available - usually once a term
• take an active part in your child's homework - play a maths game, hear them read, discuss the worship 'values for life' theme
• attend school performances; Church services e.g. Harvest and Christmas; music concerts; help at Art Week; volunteer to help on educational visits; run a club

Getting involved in School:

• attend school performances and Church services e.g. Harvest and Christmas; music concerts. Help with costumes, props or staging
• help at special weeks e.g. Art Week
• volunteer to help on educational visits
• become a regular helper e.g. hearing children read, helping at swimming
• join the Friends of Haresfield School (FOHS)
• offer to talk about your work, hobbies, local history knowledge, play an instrument, demonstrate a skill
• run a club
• become a school governor (no vacancies at present but they come up from time to time and are advertised through newsletters and the website)
• attend the school parents forum - an opportunity to express your views and listen to others - held twice a year

What if I have a concern?

• The first point of call is to contact the class teacher as soon as possible using the suggestions above. We endeavour to sort out issues promptly and informally and the class teacher can usually do this immediately.
• If however you do not feel that your concern is resolved please speak to the Head, Mrs Farrell. This can usually be done by speaking to her first or last thing each day or by telephoning the school office to arrange an appointment.
• If you feel your concern has still not been addressed then request a copy of the school complaints procedure from the office or download it below.
